Gwinnett Sheriff's Deputy Killed in Wreck
A Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy was killed after his motorcycle and an ice cream truck collided at a Barrow County intersection as he was on his way home Monday night, June 1, 2009. An ice cream truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Bowman Mill Road, colliding with a passing truck. That truck struck the deputy's motorcycle and knocked him off. The deputy, who was wearing a helmet, died from his injuries. There are many facts that remain unknown. Depending on the facts, it is possible that the officers dependants' will need a workers comp attorney. His survivors may have a claim for personal injuries and for wrongful death. Atlanta has many attorneys that can represent the family for personal injuries, wrongful death and for a workers compensation claim. Much of the protection afforded to the officer's family would be from the insurance policy of the owner and operator of the ice cream truck.
