Two 16 year olds were killed when the car they were riding in crashed into a tree in the West End neighborhood of Atlanta. The teen driver was fleeing police at the time of the collision. An officer had observed the Honda Accord driving without headlights and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The vehicle was later discovered to be reported stolen. After the vehicle fled it turned onto Lawton Street, the officer claims that he ended the pursuit and turned off his emergency equipment prior to the crash. Some time later, the vehicle then drove off the roadway, through a chain link fence, and struck a tree near M.A. Jones Elementary School. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Atlanta Fire Department. Because the car was stolen, it is not likely that there will be liability insurance coverage for any personal injuries or property damage sustained in this Atlanta area car accident. It is anticipated that an Atlanta Personal Injury Attorney will be consulted to help to determine the various rights of the parties.
