Wrong Way Driver Causes 9 Wrecks

An Atlanta area man driving a work truck the wrong way along the Buford-Spring Connector caused a total of 9 separate car wrecks.  Just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, he was spotted driving in the wrong direction.  After his ninth collision near Monroe Drive, the driver attempted to exit his vehicle and flee the scene on foot.  Good Samaritan Grady Luckey and others pursued the man and held him under a citizens' arrest until police arrived.  Fortunately, only one person sustained personal injuries during the collisions, although each party sustained varying degrees of property damage.  The driver was charged with DUI, reckless driving, hit and run, leaving the scene of the accident and driving on the wrong side of the road.  Reports did not make clear whether the driver was working at the time of the accident.  If he was, his company may be liable in part or in whole to the injured driver and others who sustained property damage.  A company's liability under any commercial insurance policy may exclude acts of employees while intoxicated, however.  It is anticipated that all parties involved will contact an Atlanta Area Personal Injury Attorney or Atlanta Workers Comp Attorney to help identify his or her rights.
